*In 1999,
Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar set a world record by sharing 331 runs in an ODI match.
On this day in 1999, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid stitched together the highest partnership for any wicket in One Day International cricket history, against New Zealand, which stands even today despite the batsman enjoying a fair bit of advantage in rules and regulations, of late. Notably, only one more partnership of above 300 has been registered in ODI cricket since then.

*In 2008,
Chandrayaan was launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation in October 2008, and operated until August 2009. The mission included a lunar orbiter and an impactor. India launched the spacecraft using a PSLV-XL rocket on 22 October 2008 at 00:52  UTC from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The mission was a major boost to India's space program, as India researched and developed its own technology in order to explore the Moon.The vehicle was inserted into lunar orbit on 8 November 2008.

Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, 
was the first Indian Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Indian Air Force. He was awarded several honours during the course of a three-decade-long career, ended by his untimely demise in 1960. He has been called the "Father of the Indian Air Force".

*In 1674,
John Milton was an English poet and intellectual who served as a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under its Council of State and later under Oliver Cromwell. He wrote at a time of religious flux and political upheaval, and is best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost.
