*In 1977,
The International Sun-Earth Explorer (ISEE) program consisted of 3 satellites-- ISEE-1 and ISEE-3 were the principal US contribution to the International Magnetospheric Study, and ISEE-2 which was built and managed by ESA. ISEE-1 and -2 were launched on 22 October 1977 into almost coincident orbits. The orbital period was 57 hours, and their separation in the orbit was controlled by manuvuering ISEE-2. ISEE-3 was launched on 12 August 1978. It was inserted into a "halo" orbit about the libration point some 240 Earth radii upstream between the Earth and Sun.

*In 2008,
Chandrayaan-1was the first Indian lunar probe under the Chandrayaan program. It was launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation in October 2008, and operated until August 2009. The mission included a lunar orbiter and an impactor. India launched the spacecraft using a PSLV-XL rocket on 22 October 2008 at 00:52  UTC from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

*In 1952,
Aluru Seelin Kiran Kumar is an Indian space scientist and former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, having assumed office on 14 January 2015. He is credited with the development of key scientific instruments aboard the Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan space crafts.

Jibanananda Das was an indian poet, writer, novelist and essayist in the Bengali language. Popularly called "Rupashi Banglar Kabi'', Das is the most read poet after Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam in Bangladesh and West Bengal. 

*In 2008,
Paritosh Sen was a leading Indian artist. He was born in Dhaka, the present-day capital of Bangladesh. He was a founder member of the Calcutta Group, an art movement established in 1942 that did much to introduce modernism into Indian art.
