*In 1962,
The Sino-Indian War between China and India occurred in October–November 1962. A disputed Himalayan border was the main cause of the war. There had been a series of violent border skirmishes between the two countries after the 1959 Tibetan uprising, when India granted asylum to the Dalai Lama. India initiated a defensive Forward Policy from 1960 to hinder Chinese military patrols and logistics, in which it placed outposts along the border, including several north of the McMahon Line, the eastern portion of the Line of Actual Control proclaimed by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in 1959.

Bickram Ghosh is an Indian classical tabla player. He is revered globally for his dexterity on the tabla and also for being one of the pioneers of an experimental fusion music. He is an extremely successful film music director having scored for 36 feature films, one of which got him an Oscar contention.

Manmohan Acharya was a poet and lyricist from India. His Sanskrit poems and lyrics have been put to music and danced to in the Odissi classical Indian dance form. A devotional song from his Gitamohanam was featured in the 2009 Bollywood movie, The Desire. He was also a researcher and published author.

Biraja Sankar Guha was an Indian physical anthropologist, who classified Indian people into races around the early part of the 20th century and he was also a pioneer to popularize his scientific ideas in the vernacular. He was the first Director of the Anthropological Survey of India.

Parthasarathy Harishchandra Sharma was an Indian cricketer. Sharma was born in Alwar, Rajasthan. He played in 5 Tests and 2 ODIs from 1974 to 1977. He played first-class cricket for Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy from 1962–63 to 1984–85.
