The revolutionary leader Bhagat Singh was born to a Sikh family on September 27, 1907 in Lyallpur district, now in Pakistan. He belonged to a family who were involved in the freedom struggle, which is the reason he was drawn towards India’s movement for Independence at an early age.

*In 1929,
The iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar is celebrting her 91st birthday this year. Mangeshkar is likely the only Indian singer who is the most loved and accepted artist across generations. She has become a legend over the years, after giving her voice to many songs.

 

28 September marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death, the French chemist and microbiologist, who developed the first rabies vaccine. In 2007, the first World Rabies Day (ERD) was organised by the two founding partners namely Alliance for Rabies Control (ARC) and the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta (CDC).

*In 1837,
Bahadur Shah II took over the rule of Delhi.
Bahadur Shah Zafar (24 October 1775 – 7 November 1862) was the twentieth and last Mughal Emperor of India. He was also a famous Urdu Poet. He was the second son of and became the successor to his father, Akbar II, upon his death on 28 September 1837. He was a titular Emperor, as the Mughal Empire existed in name only and his authority was limited only to the walled city of Old Delhi (Shahjahanbad).

Zia Mohiuddin Dagar was a North Indian classical musician who was largely responsible for the revival of the rudra vina as a solo concert instrument.
