*In 1961, 
Dr. Bidhanchandra Roy, an internationally renowned doctor and sculptor of modern Bengal was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor of India. He was an Indian physician, educationist, philanthropist, freedom fighter and statesman who served as Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 until his death in 1962. Bidhan Roy is often considered the maker of modern West Bengal .In India, the National Doctors' Day is celebrated in his memory every year on the 1st of July.

*In 2004,
Facebook is an American online social media and social networking service owned by Meta Platforms. Founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with fellow Harvard College students and roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, its name comes from the face book directories often given to American university students. Membership was initially limited to Harvard students, gradually expanding to other North American universities and, since 2006, anyone over 13 years old. As of 2020, Facebook claimed 2.8 billion monthly active users, and ranked seventh in global internet usage. It was the most downloaded mobile app of the 2010s.

Pandit Birju Maharaj, 
was an Indian dancer, composer, singer and exponent of the Lucknow "Kalka-Bindadin" Gharana of Kathak dance in India. He was a descendant of the Maharaj family of Kathak dancers, which includes his two uncles, Shambhu Maharaj and Lachhu Maharaj, and his father and guru, Acchan Maharaj. He also practised Hindustani classical music and was a vocalist.

*In 1922,
Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, 
also known by the honorific prefix Pandit, was one of the greatest Indian vocalists from Karnataka, in the Hindustani classical tradition. He is known for the khayal form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music. 
He was the first musician from India whose concerts were advertised through posters in New York City. Joshi was instrumental in organising the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival annually, as homage to his guru, Sawai Gandharva.

*In 1670,
Tanaji Malusare, was a military General of the Maratha Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A legendary poet Tulsidas, wrote a powada describing Tanaji's heroics and sacrifice of life in the Battle of Sinhagad, which has since made him a popular figure in Marathi folklore. He came from a Hindu Koli family.Kondhana, outside Pune, was one of the first forts that Shivaji wanted to re-capture from the Mughal Empire.Tanaji was asked to lead the task. Legend says that Tanaji agreed to lead even though that meant postponing his son's marriage. 

*In 1974,
Satyendra Nath Bose, 
was an Indian mathematician and physicist specialising in theoretical physics. He is best known for his work on quantum mechanics in the early 1920s, collaborating with Albert Einstein in developing the foundation for Bose–Einstein statistics and the theory of the Bose–Einstein condensate. A Fellow of the Royal Society, he was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 1954 by the Government of India.
