*In 1945,
World War II Burma Route opened.
This road, known as the Stilwell Road or (until its completion) the Ledo Road, was opened in January 1945. Although the importance of the Burma Road diminished after World War II, it remains a link in a 3,400-km (2,100-mile) road system extending from Yangon to Chongqing, China.

*In 1929,
Sunday sports were to be permitted in Boston.The 1929 Red Sox thought their luck may have changed when the city of Boston finally allowed professional baseball to be played on Sundays. Games couldn't be played at Fenway Park, though, because it stood within 100 yards of a church they were finally allowed to play ball on Sundays.

*In 1923,
Somnath Sharma, was an officer of the Indian Army, and the first recipient of the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), India's highest military decoration, which he was awarded posthumously.Sharma was commissioned into the 8th Battalion, 19th Hyderabad Regiment, in 1942. He served in Burma during the Arakan Campaign of World War II, for which he was mentioned in despatches. Fighting in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-1948, Somnath Sharma was martyred in action on 3 November 1947 while repulsing Pakistani infiltrators near Srinagar Airport.

*In 1896,
D. R. Bendre,
popularly known as Da Rā Bēndre, is generally considered the greatest Kannada lyric poet of the 20th century and one of the greatest poets in the history of Kannada literature.A pioneering poet of Kannada's Navōdaya movement and a leading figure in the linguistic renaissance of Kannada in the region of North Karnataka (then part of the Bombay Presidency), Bendre forged a new path in Kannada literature and modern Kannada poetry through his original use of desi Kannada, particularly Dharwad Kannada – the form of Kannada spoken in the North Karnataka region of Dharwad.

M George Muthoot, Indian entrepreneur and businessman, prominent for his pioneering work in the South Indian financial sector.The company started by M. George Muthoot came to be known as the Muthoot Group and is today among the largest and most respected companies in South India. He and his son Dr. George Kurien were also instrumental in setting up a multi-specialty hospital in Kozhencherry (Muthoot Medical Center).

*In 2003,
Meka Rangaiah Appa Rao, was Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, Member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
He has entered politics and elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly in 1952 Madras State legislative assembly election from Nuzvid constituency. He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Nuzvid constituency in 1955 (then Andhra State), 1962,1967 and 1972 as a member of Indian National Congress
