Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 16 December in India to remember the martyrs, their sacrifices, and to strengthen the role of armed forces for the cause of the nation.
On December 3, the Indo-Pakistan war began in 1971 and lasted for 13 days. Officially, the war ended on December 16 and Pakistan surrendered to India. The thirteen-day war resulted in the complete surrender of Pakistani forces and the creation of Bangladesh. Army of Pakistan surrendered before India with around 93,000 soldiers. It was the "Greatest Ever Victory" and India rose as a regional power to reckon with.

The Kingdom of Nepal , also known as the Gorkha Kingdom or Gorkha Empire or Real Land of the Hindus, was a Hindu kingdom in South Asia, formed in 1768, by the unification of Nepal. Founded by King Prithvi Narayan Shah, a Gorkha monarch who claimed to be of Rajput origin, it existed for 240 years until the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy in 2008. During this period, Nepal was formally under the rule of the Shah dynasty, which exercised varying degrees of power during the kingdom's existence.

The Taj Mahal Palace is a heritage, five-star, luxury hotel in the Colaba area of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, situated next to the Gateway of India. Built in the Saracenic Revival style, it opened in 1903 as the Taj Mahal Hotel and has historically often been known simply as "The Taj". The hotel is named after the Taj Mahal, which is located in the city of Agra approximately 1,050 kilometres (650 mi) from Mumbai. It has been considered one of the finest hotels in the East since the time of the British Raj. The hotel was one of the main sites targeted in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Umesh Chandra Dutta was one of the pioneer Brahmos who firmly established the Brahmo Samaj at Harinavi in the face of severe opposition from local people.
He was one of the founders of Sadharan Brahmo Samaj and contributed substantially to the cause of education particularly women’s education. He was designated a ‘Sadhu’ for his pious life.

Shaik Dawood Khan also known as Ustad Shaik Dawood & Ustad Sheik Dawood & Daud Khan, was a performer on the Indian tabla. He was formerly a staff artist in All India Radio.In his life he received numerous awards. These include the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award - 1991. Unfortunately he was too ill to attend the award ceremony and died shortly after the awards ceremony.

Arun Khetarpal
was an officer of the Indian Army and a posthumous recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration for valour in face of the enemy. He was martyred in action in the Battle of Basantar in the Battlefield of Shakargarh during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 where his actions earned him his honour.Khetrapal is an iconic figure in the ethos of the Indian Army with prominent constructions being named after him. The parade ground at NDA is named Khetarpal Ground while the auditorium and one of the main gates bear his name at the IMA.

Sree Padmanabhadasa Sree Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma was the titular Maharaja of Travancore. He was the younger brother of the last ruling monarch of the Kingdom of Travancore, Maharajah Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma.Sree Uthradom Thirunal was educated privately by a group of 14 tutors in various subjects. He later graduated from the then Travancore University with Economics, Politics and History as specialisations in 1943. He was the recipient of the Moncombu Aandi Iyer Gold Medal for the best student in Sanskrit from the varsity. He was respected for his erudition.
